At the past-producing Woodlawn mine, a large, high-grade underground resource is being investigated to determine how much of this resource may be currently mineable and how much additional resource will be required to justify redevelopment of the underground mine. TriAusMin has demonstrated that the previously mined deposits continue below historic workings.
The historical operation at Woodlawn mined and treated a high grade orebody with reported production being approximately 13.8 Mt at 9.1% Zinc, 3.6% Lead, 1.6% Copper, 0.5g/t Gold and 74 g/t Silver. It is the high intrinsic value of this ore that is of interest to TriAusMin. In targeting extensions and repeats of this orebody, it has been recognized that a key issue in the geological setting is the structural environment and this has shown to have a significant bearing on the continuity and offsets to the mineralization.
TriAusMin is currently drilling targeted extensions to a number of the known ore lenses below the limit of previous mining at the past-producing Woodlawn underground mine. On April 3, 2012, TriAusMin announced that a number of high-grade base and precious metal mineralized zones were intersected in the first drill hole.
